This Should Be Interesting.

My name is Castiel Winchester. Not really I just choose not to reveal my identity. A great blog needs a villain... Just to make things interesting. I do believe women are portrayed a certain way in the media but its not the media's fault. It's ours. We choose what we want to see on television, magazines, films, and even the females portrayed in books. If you didn't see a slim or beautiful women with a hot body in movies would you really go see it? I mean would you see The Avengers if Scarlett Johansson wasn't Black Widow? Or if Megan Fox wasn't in TMNT or Transformers? Or if a not so hot women played a sexually revealing girl? No.
I'm not saying its wrong to see "normal" ladies on the big screen. It's just you know. WEIRD. You expect these perfect females. That's just the way it is. I don't agree that women are being to explicit these days. They choose to express themselves a certain way. Maybe they have money issues or family problems and they just need that extra boost of money or even self confidence.
* I will be expressing the opposing side. I do not expect you to agree with me. Just hear me out. *

Jess's view

Feminism is a broad topic, in which different opinions can be interpreted by one's perspective. My name is Jessica, but I'm fine with Jess, and my focus is not on the general aspect on feminism, but my focal point pivots to women in the media. People can generally view feminism as power within women, but the degradation in how women are perceived then derives from the media. Our generation of women and young girls look up to certain artists and female icons in the music industry. When someone is viewed as a type of "role model", people look up to them because that person is someone who inspires them to be who they want to be. An artist can definitely have an impact in someone's life and decision making, therefore they should not use their body or physical appearance to show that it is worth value, but instead make their admirers embrace who they already are.

Anja's Introduction

Hi y’all! My name is Anja. I’m a freshman at CSUN this fall with a major in Music Industry Studies.
As I grew more serious about my love for music in high school, I realized that there is a big difference in how women are treated from men in the music industry. I quickly noticed that female fans are usually labeled “groupies” or “fangirls”, most bands with a frontwoman fall into the category of female fronted band, and many female musicians are transformed into sex symbols with mellifluous voices. I heard stories of women who were told “no groupies allowed backstage before the concert” because women who hang around musicians are automatically assumed to be looking for sex rather than working for the band.
These realizations morphed into a broader awareness of how women are portrayed in the media. My goal here is to raise awareness of how women are portrayed and perceived by the media and to fight for equality. This is an issue that can no longer be ignored.
Thank you to anyone who reads this blog. I hope what I have to say will some sort of impact.

Enough is Enough.

This page is for everyone. Whether you are a feminist, someone who doesn't see anything wrong with the way the media portrays women, a man who wants a different perspective to the mind of a woman, or just someone who enjoys reading blogs. This is for you and ALL are W E L C O M E!!!

Now, what is this commotion all about?

I'm sure you've all seen those commercials and videos of the " perfectly" skinny, perfect bodied Barbie doll women with unrealistic curves and a photo-shopped smile headlining our media. As we grow up and watch those "perfect" women, we think to ourselves.. "what would it take to BE THEM"?

I'm here to tell you that those women that you aspired to be when we were younger , are highly overrated. I'm here to tell you that the women you see in the media; although they may seem perfect, are not "all that" and are not anything to look up to as you live out your life.

As you are reading this you may be wondering " Who is this ?!! What gives her the right to tell us anything about image?" As a reply, I would say that you are right. Who am I? I'm just a girl who's seen the extensive damage that the unrealistic molds of women have caused. I am a girl who has grown up in the "technological" age , where everything is run by the media. I am also a girl who hopes to inspire a change of perspective in you. I'm here to tell you that whatever shape, size, color, etc. you are.. you are perfect. No amount of over sexualized women can change that.

I'm also here to act as a voice for the women. A voice for those who's bodies are cut and distorted by photo shop. A voice for those who don't have the courage to speak up. A perspective fighting for and recognizing the women behind the photos and all that they are worth. As a woman, I am speaking for my own self worth.

Who am I really? I am Alana. College student, friend, daughter, onlooker, fighter.
